The Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York, is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena that hosts local concerts and sporting events.
In 1924, the Westchester Recreation Commission created the Westchester County Center as a multi-purpose indoor recreational facility. In addition to hosting various forms of community programs, the Westchester County Center was designed to be an income-producing commercial event venue.
The Westchester County Center has for over 75 years been Westchester’s premier setting for concerts, trade shows, sports events, meetings, seminars, theatrical presentations, conventions and civic and community events.
The Westchester County Center Grand opening gala was held on the weekend of May 22, 1930, attracting people from all walks of life and from all over Westchester County. Famous musicians entertained the masses, including the pianist Percy Grainger, Metropolitan Opera Company tenor Edward Johnson, organist Palmer Christian and more than 1,500 local choral group performers.
Westchester County Center audiences have heard performances from various stars such as Liza Minnelli, Kenny Rogers, James Brown and Judy Garland.
