Shared between the towns of Ossining and Mount Pleasant, Briarcliff Manor is a village situated in Westchester County, New York. It is well known and renowned for its excellent public school system (ranked number 94 in the nation). The town also boasts being home to a campus location of Pace University, as well as to the Trump National Golf Course. This course was originally entitled Briarcliff Lodge in the early 20th century, later renamed Briar Hall Country Club. It was renamed again when purchased by multi-millionaire Donald Trump.
Briarcliff is considered to be a very wealthy village, much like its nearby neighbors of Scarsdale and Chappaqua. The median household income for a family is over $150,000. There are various neighborhoods in Briarcliff Manor, some of which are more desired than others. For example, though governed by the town of Mount Pleasant, the Meadowbrook Farm area is incorporated into Briarcliff’s school system and is therefore still a popular neighborhood. However, the neighborhoods of Scarborough and Chilmark, though governed by Briarcliff, do not fall within this celebrated school system and are some of the less popular residential areas.
If Briarcliff Manor had a main street, it would be Pleasantville Road, located downtown (often referred to as simply “Town”), where you’ll find the fire department, several shops and commercial locations, and the middle and high school (the elementary school is located just off Pleasantville Road).
