The village of Pelham, located within the town of Pelham in Westchester County, New York, is a one-square mile area that includes a small-town atmosphere and tightly knit community environment. Originally, the village was two separate entities, incorporated as Pelham Village and North Pelham in 1896. However, the two municipalities combined into the single village and were reincorporated as the village of Pelham in 1975.
The downtown area hosts a mix of businesses, including small storefronts, a historic movie theatre, restaurants, and an art center. Wolfs Lane Park is also located in the downtown area. The historic train station is located in the center of Pelham, making it an easy walk from almost any house in the village. It has recently been renovated and restored. The trip by train to mid-town Manhattan is a mere 29-minute ride on the Metro North New Haven line.
There are four schools in the village of Pelham: two elementary schools (Colonial Elementary and Hutchinson Elementary), a middle school (Pelham Middle School), and a high school (Pelham High School). All schools are easily within walking distance for most residents of the village.
The village of Pelham is divided into several different neighborhoods, each with its own distinct community environment, but the whole village is very involved with Pelham’s activities.
